The DRC is situated in the heart of Africa. Despite being rich in natural resources, and having the world's second largest rainforest, nearly 60 percent of the country's 74 million people live below the poverty line. Subsistence agriculture is the main source of income for the DRC's rural population.
PROGRAM GOALSThe goal of CCD is to promote sustainable agriculture in the Equateur Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through education and empowerment, so practices can be shared and multiplied across the country.
Congolese Community Development trains and assists rural, small-scale cultivators to increase their agricultural production and create systems in which they will be able to bring their harvested crops to city markets to sell at a profit.
